Romantic Dumbo Sunset Engagement

There is something incredibly special about capturing a couple in the place they call home. For Ally and Dominic’s engagement session, we spent a beautiful afternoon exploring their neighborhood, Dumbo, Brooklyn -a place that perfectly balances industrial grit with high-end editorial elegance. As a NYC wedding photographer, I find that Dumbo offers an unparalleled backdrop, where the architectural history of New York City meets the modern romance of the waterfront. I’m so excited to capture their wedding at Capitale in NYC.
We began the session high above the streets on their apartment rooftop. Private rooftop sessions offer an intimate, elevated perspective of the city, and this was no exception. With the Brooklyn Bridge standing tall behind them and the glass towers of the FiDi glimmering across the East River, we captured a series of frame-worthy portraits.
We wandered through the historic cobblestone streets toward the Brooklyn Bridge Park waterfront. Dumbo is home to some of the most iconic views in the world, and for good reason. We paused for portraits between the towering brick warehouses and beneath the majestic steel spans of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. The juxtaposition of the couple’s elegant attire against the weathered textures of the waterfront created that classic New York City aesthetic that never goes out of style.
To wrap up the evening, we headed to their favorite local restaurant, AlMar. Sharing a drink at a meaningful location is one of my favorite ways to end an engagement session. A perfect way to relax, celebrate, and enjoy each other's company, I am already counting down the days until their wedding!
